Footnotes:
1/ This includes own-account capital formation, other subsidies on production, imputed social
contributions, other current transfers and capital transfers (excl. Capital taxes).
2/ This includes other taxes on production, unfunded employee social benefits, other current
transfers, capital transfers and acquisitions less disposals of non-produced non-financial assets.
3/ The Netherlands defines a maturity borderline of 2 years distinguishing between the money
and the capital market. In practice, no central government paper is issued with a
maturity between 1 and 2 years.
4/ End-of-period figures.
5/ Data are not disseminated as the amount of guaranteed debt is relatively insignificant.
6/ End-of-period figures. Amounts outstanding, unless otherwise indicated.
7/ Data include credit to the nonfinancial public enterprises.
8/ Mainly loans to credit institutions. There is no credit to nonfinancial public enterprises.
9/ Data on credit to general government are not applicable as direct lending to government
is not permitted under the terms of the Maastricht Treaty. The Nederlandsche Bank holds only
central government bonds, that are part of earmarked portfolio investment corresponding to
capital and reserves.

In the IMF publication International Financial Statistics these investments are classified
as securities other than shares under Claims to General Government, in line with the ECB
regulation on the consolidated balance sheet.
10/ The issues of short term government securities (Dutch Treasury Certificates) are deemed
insignificant as the total amount outstanding of short term government securities is
generally a small part of the total amount outstanding of all government debt.
11/ End-of-period figures.
