Insurers

On this page you will find statistics on insurers. Macroeconomic statistics are derived from a sample survey among life insurers, non-life insurers and reinsurers. The resulting data is extrapolated to national totals. Supervisory data, individual data and the register are based on the total population. The statistics comprise figures on all supervised insurers in the Netherlands. The characteristics of pension schemes that are directly administered by life insurers are included under direct pension schemes. The data concerned is based on a survey, the outcome of which is extrapolated.

Pension funds

These DNB-compiled tables give an overview of the most important developments at pension funds in the Netherlands. Pension funds are financial institutions that pay benefits (pensions) to pensioners. Pensioners have built up entitlements to these pensions throughout their working lives. Membership of a pension fund is obligatory for virtually all employees in the Netherlands. Partly on that account, the Dutch pension system is one of the world's most sophisticated pension systems. The major Dutch pension funds rank among the largest in the world. Supervisors of the Dutch pension fund sector are De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM).
